2026 Vulcanus in Europe Program

Program Fee Scholarship and other benefits
(1) Tuition fees and homestay (or dormitory) expenses during language training will be covered by the Japan-Europe Industrial Cooperation Center.
(2) 800,000 yen will be provided prior to departure from Japan to cover travel expenses and expenses during language training.
(3) During the corporate training period, companies will provide approximately 1,000 euros per month as a general rule.
Eligibility
・Science and engineering students enrolled in Japanese universities (third- and fourth-year undergraduates, graduate students) *Must be enrolled in a university or graduate school until March 2027.
・Japanese nationals

Application Requirements Those who have one of the following English language proficiency qualifications (within two years of the application deadline)
・TOEIC 650 points or higher / IELTS (Speaking) 6 or higher
・TOEFL iBT 70 points or higher / TOEFL ITP (group test) Lv.1 525 points or higher
Notes 【About Specialized Fields】
・This program does not necessarily receive applications for trainees from the same companies or departments every year.
 The industry of the company, the specialized fields that the company requires of students, and the training content vary depending on the year of dispatch.

・For reference, the following shows the specialized fields that companies that have applied for this program in the past three years have requested of students.
 〈Recent Performance〉※This does not guarantee placement for the 2026 academic year.

About Vulcanus in Europe
“Vulcanus” is Latin for the god of blacksmiths. In line with the proverb “Strike while the iron is hot,” “Vulcanus in Europe” is an internship program targeting Japanese science and engineering students, offering language training and corporate training in EU member states to promote industrial cooperation between Japan and Europe and cultivate human resources who will play a key role in future Japan-Europe economic relations. The program provides a valuable opportunity to apply the science and engineering knowledge and skills acquired at universities and other institutions to gain practical experience in Europe.
