Short-term Programs

Short-term Programs Hosted by Kyushu University

Short-term programs are study abroad programs for a short period of time, ranging from a few days to three months. Kyushu University offers two types of programs: university-wide programs open to all students and faculty-specific programs designed for students in particular schools/departments. These programs cover a wide range of activities, from language improvement and cultural experiences to specialized academic studies.

Many students participate in these programs during summer or spring breaks as a stepping stone toward longer study abroad experiences. We encourage you to select a program that aligns with your study abroad goals and preferred duration.

Short-term Programs Hosted by Overseas Institutions

We introduce short-term programs offered by overseas universities, primarily our partner institutions. While some programs have enrollment limits and require internal selection, Kyushu University students may be eligible for program fee or tuition waivers. Various options are available, including summer schools, winter schools, spring schools, workshops, and both on-site and online programs. Please review the eligibility requirements before applying.

Mid- and Long-term Programs

University-Level Exchange Programs

Under university-level exchange agreements, Kyushu University offers opportunities to study at partner institutions worldwide for periods ranging from one semester to one year. With partnerships established with numerous top-ranked global universities, these exchange programs are open to all Kyushu University undergraduate and graduate students.

During the exchange period, students maintain their enrollment status at Kyushu University. If students continue paying tuition to Kyushu University, they will be exempt from tuition fees at the host university. Credits earned at the host university can be transferred to Kyushu University upon return, subject to approval from their school or graduate school.

Double Degree Programs allow students to study at both Kyushu University and partner institutions abroad. Students who meet all requirements receive degrees from both universities. This system enables students to earn two degrees in a shorter period compared to completing them separately.

Kyushu University offers various Double Degree Programs. We encourage you to check available programs in your school or graduate school.

Joint Degree Programs

Joint Degree Programs are collaborative educational programs developed and offered jointly by Kyushu University and partner institutions abroad, leading to a single degree awarded jointly by both universities. Students are enrolled at both institutions and benefit from high-quality education and research guidance that combines the strengths of Japanese and international education.

Kyushu University offers several Joint Degree Programs. Please check with your school or graduate school for available programs.
