The Japan International School (JIS) in Vietnam is a school that has garnered attention for introducing the Japanese educational system to Vietnam. It is an international school offering a curriculum ranging from preschool through high school. In addition to the Japanese curriculum, it also incorporates the Vietnamese curriculum and the Cambridge curriculum. Approximately half of the faculty are Japanese, with the other half consisting of Vietnamese teachers and teachers from overseas (primarily responsible for the Cambridge curriculum). The school aims to cultivate internationally-minded Vietnamese talent and prepare students for admission to universities in Japan and abroad. Founded with the goal of introducing Japanese-style education to Vietnam, the school’s Executive Vice President is a former Vietnamese Minister of Fisheries who maintains ties with faculty at Kyushu University’s School of Agriculture and facilitates student exchange programs. In addition to Chuo University, which played a central role in its founding, the school currently collaborates with many Japanese high schools and universities. The faculty includes graduates of Kyushu University’s School of Engineering, and the school has signed an internship partnership agreement with Kyushu University’s School of Education.
