International Financial Institutions (IFIs) are a group of international organizations that provide loans, policy advice, and technical assistance to governments of developing countries, as well as investment, advisory services, and guarantees to private sector entities in these countries. They also monitor global economic trends, offer financial support, and support capacity development in economies worldwide, including developing countries.
This career seminar will bring together representatives from major IFIs with offices in Tokyo—namely the African Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank Group. They will introduce their respective organizations, activities, recruitment systems, working styles, and career path examples.
The seminar is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young professionals interested in careers in international development, particularly within IFIs. The first half will feature presentations from each institution, followed by a Q&A session. In the second half, participants attending in person will have the opportunity to join small group consultation sessions with representatives from each institution.
